Xiaolan was a visiting scholar from August 2016 to August 2017 with a background in Computer Engieering. She graduated from Beihang University, China, with her Ph.D. in Computer Application Technology, and then joined the College of Information Engineering, Capital Normal University, China. While at Schepens she worked with Dr. Bowers and Dr. Luo on a study investigating hazard detection when using a bioptic telescope in a driving simulator. The study showed that the fellow eye was able to compensate for the ring scotoma when driving with monocular bioptic telescopes. Her current research interests include vehicular networks, driving behavior, and deep learning.
