Shiva Ram Male graduated from the School of Medical Sciences with a PhD and an Integrated-M. Sc in (Optometry & Vision Sciences). He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Laws and Intellectual Property Rights from CDVL, University of Hyderabad and a Clinical Optometry internship from LVPEI-Hyderabad. His PhD thesis focuses on the Problem of colour vision and its relationship to culture, cognition, and quality of life. He is a working researcher who has published 36 international peer-reviewed articles, 2 book chapters, one systematic review and meta-analysis, and one health policy paper to his credit in optometry and Health sciences. He also holds a copyright registration and design patent from the Indian Patent Office- Chennai for the RISHIVA color pulse illusion. He has also won various national and international prizes in the fields of optometry and vision sciences and presented research work at ARVO, VSS and ECVP conferences.

His major areas of research interest are visual psychophysics, vision rehabilitation, retinal forensics, retinal and macular diseases , community and public health approaches to eye care, colour vision deficiency, colour cognition, and cognitive linguistics.

Apart from research, he enjoys travelling, cooking, swimming, gardening, spiritual readings-Sanatana Dharma, athletics and participating in NGO volunteers and providing eye care for free.
